What has been your most rewarding part of your college experience thus far? The most rewarding part of my college experience hands down is experiencing it with my Kappa sisters. As cheesy as it may sound, I’m not sure where I would be today without them.
What are you TOP THREE favorite things about Kappa Kappa Gamma?
1. Yangin’ (It ain’t easy)
2. Kappa desserts
3. There’s always someone around to hang out with!
Describe yourself in three words.
Rambunctious, Motivated, Wholehearted
What is a goal that you would like to achieve for this school year?
Recently I have been reaching out to other chapters here on campus to promote my headband line Bandiez Couture and I have met some awesome girls and made some new friends! A goal of mine would be to continue that and reach out more to other chapters.
How did you get into making headbands and bows?
It all started back in November of 2009 when my dad told me that I had the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Swaziland, Africa in July 2010 if I were able to come up with the funds. I have my mom and grandma to thank for giving me the idea to make bows. The bows quickly became something of value to me, not only because the idea was passed down from my grandma, but also because they fully funded the most rewarding trip of my life. Side note: I got to experience this life-changing trip with one of my best friends and Kappa sisters, Kaylen K. My heart was left with the Swazi people and I knew the day I left that I would be back the next year. I continued to make the bows and was beyond blessed to be able to go for a second time the next year. My Kappa sisters tremendously helped me fund my second trip by purchasing bows. The support was incredible and I will forever owe them. The Bandiez also helped me get back to Swaziland for the second time.
Tell us a little bit about your company, Bandiez Couture
First off, I have Amanda N. (Mandiez) to thank for helping me create the name. What an awesome gal. I started making spandex headbands a couple months before my second trip to Africa to help fund the last amount due for my trip and I was extremely blessed to see them sell quickly. When I returned, I decided to continue to make them because it is something I truly enjoy and I hope to return in the near future to be reunited with the beautiful people of Swaziland.
What is your favorite part about seeing girls all around campus wearing your headbands and bows?
It’s just rewarding in many different ways to see girls wear them! However, there is not a chance I can take all the credit. I owe huge thanks my Kappa sisters for doing all the advertising for me. What have y’all not done for me?
Do you see yourself making headbands and maybe taking this on as a bigger business in the future after graduation?
I would love to continue this business in hopes of expansion in the future because I would like to give back and help fund mission trips so that someone may get to experience a trip like mine. I would also like to own a small boutique one day.
