Ella's Hope is a project started by Kappa alumnae, Hope Malone-McPheeters, which seeks to raise awareness and fund programs for the early intervention of autism. Hope's daughter, Ella, is five years old and living with Autism.
Ella's Hope Foundation Mission Statement:
"Ella’s Hope Foundation’s mission is to promote autism awareness and support families affected by autism spectrum disorders. We are committed to funding programs and organizations that provide early intervention services and therapies, family support, education, advocacy and opportunities with the purpose of improving the quality of life for individuals with autism and their families. We offer support to organizations that provide services for children with autism and to organizations that conduct research on the causes and effects of autism."
Hope decided to enter into Pepsi's Refresh Everything Project. This program started by Pepsi provides funds to various projects and ideas that promote a great and worthy cause. The funding is given based upon rankings on their website. In order to receive the $25,000 from Pepsi, the project or idea must be ranked in the top ten. Users can vote for various projects by texting and voting online through refresheverything.com as well as, facebook.com. Hope came to Theta chapter asking for our help in promoting the awareness of Ella's Hope Foundation. Every day Theta chapter members took time out of their day to vote via text and web. As you can imagine, the competition of this program was extremely intense, but followers of Ella's Hope never gave up. After months of dedication, Ella's Hope placed in the top ten programs of Pepsi's Refresh Everything project, which meant they would be granted $25,000 in order to further promote the awareness of the goal of Ella's Hope Foundation.
This is such an incredible accomplishment and Theta chapter couldn't be more proud of a fellow Kappa alumnae. Ella's Hope is a project that promotes something that can drastically improve the live of an individual with autism. Ella's Hope Foundation is going to continue to promote this awareness and ensure that research and development centers focusing on the early-intervention of autism are continuing to be funded and recognized for the great work they are doing. Hope and her family are living proof that early intervention can greatly improve an individual's life. We couldn't be prouder!
"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."
