New Member Retreat

The “Owl Be Home for Krismukkah” themed New Member Retreat took place on Friday, August 28. The fun-filled evening began with a Kore family reveal! The New Members were greeted on the front lawn by their new Kore Kappa family. Each family had a designated item, such as princess crowns, t-shirts, capes, etc. so their newest member would be able to distinguish their family from the rest! Afterwards, families celebrated by going out to dinner. New Members and their new Big Sister returned to Kappa for a special New Member pinning. The rest of the night was filled with crafts, skits, pizza and fun sisterly bonding!

Say Hello to the Newest Kappas!!!

On Saturday, August 21, Theta Chapter welcomed 79 new faces to Kappa Kappa Gamma! For Bid Day, Rollins Street turned in to Bourbon Street for this year’s theme, Mardi Gras. Kappas proudly sported green and purple, masks, beads and yelled "GEAUX KAPPA!" in celebration of the new members! In addition we were so excited to welcome back the 7 Pi Chis who were disaffiliated from the chapter for recruitment! The day was jam packed with fun, including a backyard barbeque, miniature golfing, a Red Bull sponsored social back at the house and best of all, kissing the 50 yard line of Faurot Field! Needless to say, it was quite an eventful and fun filled day for Kappa Kappa Gamma!

Special Shout Out to Recruitment Team 2010!

Recruitment 2010 was led by this dynamic duo of Senior Kappas:

They did an AMAZING job! However, they didn’t do it alone! They had help from the rest of the hard working Recruitment Team (pictured below) and our wonderful alumnae. Recruitment was a HUGE success and we couldn’t have done it without these amazing ladies! Thanks for all your hard work!

Our amazing computer committee! We couldn't have done it without you!

Run Down of Recruitment 2010!

Recruitment 2010 was in full swing during the busy week of August 16th! Monday and Tuesday served as open house day. The girls wore “hawaiian” red shorts and blue shorts in addition to classy pearl headbands!
On Wednesday, Sisterhood Day, the girls got to off the personality and humor of the house with a skit. The theme of the Miss Kappa Kappa Gamma Pageant continued this year, but had several changes thanks to the hard work of the skit director Mary, PC '07! The skit provided endless laughter thanks to the outstanding performances by the cast, especially the hilarious pageant hosts “Franny Merryweather” and “Kenneth” played by the comedic duo: Alex and Abi, PC '08.

On Thursday, the house was transformed in to Dr. Seuss’s Kappaville for Philanthropy Day. On this day, Kappas got to share more about our local and national philanthropy, such as the annual Kappa Klassic Golf Tournament, volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club and RIF (Reading is Fundamental). Potential new members also received tours of the house led by enthusiastic Cat in the Hat tour guides! In addition, the rest of the girls sported light blue TOMS on this day, therefore donating over a 100 pairs of shoes to children in Africa!
Friday, Preference Day, was the final day of recruitment. On this day, the girls wore elegant black dresses, greeted potential new members with irises and enjoyed a wonderful ceremony, which included performances by the beautiful voices of the Kappa Pickers! This day was very special, especially for the Seniors.

The best part of the day was, without a doubt, the annual end of recruitment FEAST!!! Girls filled MULTIPLE plates with food from the gigantic buffet in celebration of all their hard work and the end of a busy week!
